The craziest events of the year
VCO INFINITY is one of the most recent innovations from the ideas factory that is the Virtual Competition Organisation. On 7th/8th May 2022, 40 teams from all around the world competed for the first time in this totally new 24h event on the iRacing simulation platform and joined the battle for a total prize money of 5,000 US dollars.
In its inaugural edition, a total of 24 races, each lasting 45 minutes, took place. Five totally different cars appeared in the races: the Dallara IR18 IndyCar, the Dallara F3, the McLaren MP4-12C GT3, the Hyundai Elantra N TC and the Dallara P217 LMP2. The five circuits were only announced two days beforehand. The result was: 24 unique combinations of vehicle and circuits, each of which was used by one driver from each of the 40 teams to battle for points and wins.
The teams had to pay close attention to the individual strengths and preferences of their driving crews when assigning them to the relevant timeslots. In December, VCO INFINITY returned with a special ProSIM edition, with real-world racing drivers joining the show. Team Redline walked aways from both editions of INFINITY as winners.
